R1: Offence Build
Time to step up your Game and Get in the Ring!
The Cost of Free (What Nobody Counts)
You’ve heard the lines:
“I’ll do it for free to build my portfolio.”
“Once I have samples, I’ll charge.”
“The first one’s free, then I raise prices.”
Here’s what actually happens.
Free removes friction. No budget. No urgency. No pressure to win.
So:
A 6-hour job becomes 40
Scope creeps nonstop
“One more thing” never ends
You’re not building skill.
You’re training yourself to work slowly and be undervalued.
And once you say yes to free, every future conversation starts below zero.
Now you’re negotiating uphill.
Winning fighters don’t start from zero.
They start from their minimum.
🥊 DO THIS TODAY:
Grab a page. No overthinking.
Write down 3 things you’ve done for clients (paid or free).
For each:
1. What outcome did they get? (Money made, time saved, risk reduced)
2. What would someone pay for that outcome?
3. Did I get paid for hours… or results?
👉 Rule: Your next price is based on their win, not your effort.

R2: Defence Protect
The First Client Always Sets the Price
Your first paying client does more than pay you.
They anchor your value.
If you charge $500 and they say yes, your brain locks it in.
Raising prices later feels “wrong.”
Not because it is, but because you’ve never defended your floor.
Defense means eliminating silent leaks:
❌ “Free” discovery calls that turn into consulting
❌ “Let’s see how it goes” agreements
❌ “Pay me later when it works.”
That’s not generosity.
That’s stepping into the ring without a guard.
When there’s no commitment, clients don’t value the work.
And neither do you.
PUT THIS IN PLACE (TODAY)
Write your minimum price (the number that makes you show up sharp).
Add 20%. That’s your real starting point.
Lock this one sentence:
“I help [specific person] solve [specific problem] that’s costing them [real consequence].”
Use it everywhere. Clarity protects price.

R3: Profit Scale
Start Low—Then Raise It Until the Market Pushes Back
Here’s the rule most people never learn:
You don’t guess your price.
You test it.
Start where buyers say yes.
Then raise it for every new client until they hesitate.
That hesitation?
That’s the market giving feedback.
The Ladder:
Client #1–3 → Base price
Client #4–6 → +25%
Client #7–9 → +25%
Client #10 → Pause, refine, repeat
If nobody hesitates, you’re still too low.
The Real Portfolio
Not pretty mockups.
Not “experience.”
Results. Documented.
For every project, capture:
The starting problem (numbers matter)
What you did (2–3 sentences)
The result (money, time, % change)
That’s proof.
That’s what gets referred
💰 MONEY MOVE (DO THIS TODAY)
Pick one past project. Write:
Problem
Result
What you’d charge today
That’s portfolio entry #1.
You need 3 results before your next price bump.
🧰 TOOL BAG (USE THESE)
ChatGPT → Outcome framing + offer clarity prompt:
“Turn this service into a result-based offer for [client type].” Notion → Results tracker (one page per win)
Beehiiv → Publish wins as micro-case studies
Canva → One-page proof visuals (numbers > design)
R3: Champion’s Corner
One Move That Changed Everything!
A designer spent two years working for free.
Logos. Sites. “Test projects.”
Then one client showed up with a real budget. She charged $2,000.
They said yes instantly.
Nothing changed about her skill. Only her minimum.
That one client led to five. Five to ten.
Now she turns work down.
The portfolio didn’t build the business. Belief in her floor did.
