The Money Move · Issue #019 · Thursday, August 6

Hey —

John here.

Was checking in at my doctor's office this week. The receptionist and I got talking. She's fifty-six. No retirement. No 401K. She'd tried two AI classes at the community college and left both still not knowing what to actually DO with it. When I mentioned The Money Move, she lit up. Signed up on her phone as I was walking out the door.

Today's play is what she and half of you reading this actually need before running any of the specific plays I've been sending. Two-minute read.

Reply "WIN" if you tried a Money Move play this week. I read every one.

Everyone asks the same wrong question: "How do I make money with AI?"

That's the question every YouTube video answers, every LinkedIn thread argues about, every "make money with AI" course monetizes. And it produces the same three ideas every time: start a dropshipping store, launch a course, run an agency.

Those three ideas fail nine out of ten people because they start from zero, asking "what business should I start?" instead of starting from YOU.

The right question is different: "What's the fastest path to money for ME, with what I already have?"

Your Claude account already knows enough about you to answer. Every conversation you've had with it is data. This week's play is three prompts that force Claude to use that data to find your one real idea.

How to run them: Open the Claude account with the most history on you. New chat. Paste each prompt in order. Wait for the full answer before pasting the next. All three in the SAME chat. Ten minutes total.

Prompt tip: Same-chat matters. Prompt 2 needs to see the output from Prompt 1 to stress-test it. Prompt 3 needs the survivors of Prompt 2 to pick a winner. Same chat is the difference between three isolated brainstorms and one real decision. This is the first Money Move play that uses Claude's memory across prompts.

Build a Holiday Creator Affiliate Program in 90 Days

Creators lock in holiday content calendars 90 days out, before brands figure out commissions. Waiting too long to launch an affiliate program means less runway to build demand and a missed shot at the best partnerships.

The 90-Day Holiday Sprint covers commissions, recruiting, and scaling a program at Day 30, 60, and 90.

1. THE INVENTORY

List every skill I've built, problem I've solved, and audience I can reach without paying for ads, based on everything you know about me. Include the ones I've stopped noticing because they feel obvious to me. Every sentence must earn its place.

What you're getting: skills you forgot you had. Problems you've already solved for free. People who already listen to you. Pick the 2 to 4 ideas that spark from the list and write them down. Prompt 2 is about to try to kill them.

2. THE STRESS TEST

For each idea I'm considering, tell me the assumption most likely to be wrong, what the first 90 days actually look like (not the highlight reel), and what kind of person quits this and why: [paste your 2 to 4 ideas]. Every sentence must earn its place.

What you're getting: by default, Claude is a cheerleader. Every idea is "amazing." This prompt turns it into a sparring partner. Read the "who quits" part carefully. If it sounds like you, cross that idea off now. Better to know in minute five than month five.

3. THE VERDICT

Score each remaining idea on four criteria: can I get a paying customer in 30 days, would I still want to do this in year 3, does it use what I already have, is the failure recoverable. Then tell me which one wins. No "it depends." No list. One winner. Every sentence must earn its place.

What you're getting: Four filters. One winner. AI has to pick. That's the whole point. You started the exercise asking how to make money with AI, and you're ending it with one idea and one next step.

The math on this one is different. No fourteen ninety-one at the end of the weekend. Just one idea with your name on it, and thirty days to your first paying customer of that idea. Whatever they pay you is your proof.

5 steps:

  • Tonight: Open Claude. Run all three prompts in the same chat. Write down your one winner on a sticky note. Stick it on your laptop.

  • Friday: Send the winning idea to three people who'd be candid: a friend, a mentor, your spouse. Ask "would you pay me for this?"

  • Saturday: Post about your winner somewhere. LinkedIn, Facebook, a text to five friends: "I'm testing something new. Anyone want to be my first customer?"

  • Sunday: Take the first person who says yes. Charge whatever your gut says is fair. Under-price. Over-deliver on effort.

  • By August thirty-first: You have one paying customer. That's proof. Then run every past Money Move play against your winner: the storybook play, the Etsy play, the fundraiser play, the layoff-insurance play. Pick the one that scales YOUR idea.

One warning before you run this: Claude's answer won't be perfect. Nobody who promises perfect is being honest. Treat the winner like a smart friend who's watched you work all year. Worth hearing, never the final word. The real win isn't the answer. It's stopping the video collecting and starting one real test with your name on it.

That's the play.

"Ten minutes. Three prompts. One winner."

Run the three.
